2021 Estate Sauvignon Blanc
Despite its challenges, the 2020 growing season delivered us a fantastic Sauvignon Blanc, with luminous layers of Meyer lemon, green apple, kiwi, and honeydew melon accentuated by a fleeting grassiness and minerality. The gorgeous high-tone elements reverberate on the palate, where they are underscored by a subtle, slightly velvety mouthfeel and bright, but balanced acidity, which contributes to a vibrant and focused finish.

On an ideally positioned north-facing site adjacent to the house garden at our ranch, we grow just 1.3 acres of youthful Sauvignon Blanc vines (just over 1,000 vines) on rocky soils. The site was planted in 2014 to “Clone 1” on 110R rootstock, which grows small to medium sized compact clusters with vibrant aromatic berries.
Our take on the crisp and refreshing varietal began with pressing 100% whole clusters and settling the juice for 48 hours. Fermentation occurred in a stainless-steel tank for a duration of 20 days, with an average temperature of 62⁰F. The wine was racked of fermentation lees and transferred to a large format neutral oak cask.
