From its inky purple color to its expressive nose of black cherry, plum, blackberry, smoked meats and violet, this is a gorgeous Cabernet that is as elegant as it is alluring. Classic flavors of black currant and crème de cassis glide across the palate, with firm, rustic tannins and lingering notes of tar and sweet exotic oak adding nuance and depth.

Wine Profile
Stuhlmuller Vineyards is located at the southern edge of the Alexander Valley, where it converges with two other highly regarded Sonoma County appellations, Chalk Hill and the Russian River Valley. On its eastern edge, the 150-acre vineyard borders the Russian River. Situated in a location that is part river benchlands and part hillside, the vineyard benefits from its alluvial gravel soils and the more rocky soils of the hillside sections.
The Clones
Fermentation techniques included indigenous yeast, extended 27-day maceration, 100% whole berries and co-fermentation with 11% Petit Verdot. Only free-run wine was used, with barrel aging in all new Tonnellerie Sylvain French oak for the first four months. After spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel, select barrels were racked to more mature French oak, for a total of 48% new oak over 19 months of aging.
